In short:
This cast iron cookware will get a special place in your kitchen and on the dining table, with their rustic look, lifelong durability and incredible frying properties.
If you like to fry or simmer your food, the Maitre D’ cast iron series will reward you with beautiful, tasty dishes. The cast iron can withstand high temperatures, enabling you to get the perfect level of crispiness and browning on your steak, and if you like to fry mushrooms, they won’t start to ‘boil.’ Cast iron is also perfect for dishes such as pan bread.
If you look after your cast iron pots and pans, you'll not only have cookware that never fails you, but cookware than can be passed down through generations. Cast iron only improves with age.
Some cast iron variants are coated in enamel, which protects the material from rust. The enamel may eventually crack, particularly around the handles or following sudden changes in temperature. That’s why SCANPAN’s Maitre D’ cast iron is made using classic methods and without enamel coating.
SCANPAN’s cast iron goes through a special oil burning process that protects the surface and, with regular care and maintenance, gives the Maitre D’ cast iron series unrivalled frying properties.
Use & Care
We recommend using fat for frying, but don't add this to the frying pan until you are ready to start frying. Certain oils have a relatively low flashpoint, which is why we recommend using fats such as butter or coconut oil to minimise charring.
After use, leave the frying pan on one side to cool, on e.g. a grill. You could also 'boil' the pan in water before washing.
Always wash the frying pan in hot/boiling water and with a stiff nylon brush.
Never use washing up detergent, as the frying pan fries best with a 'natural content' of fats.
